Grocery Challenge Week 1 (1/2 – 1/8)

by Gina on January 11, 2011

Goal: $400 a month for groceries, HBA, Dog Food, and Baby Formula

So we didn’t actually spend a dime on any of these things until Saturday, when we decided to hit Costco and do our big shopping trip of the month. We are now stocked on meats and many other things to make the rest of the month’s meals more manageable. We made our list before leaving the house and stuck to it pretty well without throwing additional things into the cart that we really didn’t need or plan for. We also made a trip to Kroger because we needed dog food, firewood, produce, etc.

Costco: $154.48
Kroger: $77.00
Amazon: 6lbs organic crushed tomatoes $13.03

Total: $244.51
Amount Remaining for January: $155.49

Yikes! However, this was our major shopping for the month and the rest will be fill-in perishables and any other deals I can’t pass up! Phew, I will feel better once we have made it through our first month in this challenge, I think.
